The Demon Deacons' most visible athletic program is that of basketball. Many well known players have come out of Wake Forest: Muggsy Bogues, Tim Duncan, Randolph Childress, Josh Howard and Chris Paul being just a few. The men's basketball team has made 16 straight postseason appearances.
Other successes in sports include the football team's 2006 ACC Championship and the golf team's three national championships in 1974, 1975 and 1986. The Wake Forest baseball team won the 1955 College World Series. In women's field hockey Wake Forest won three consecutive national championships from 2002 to 2004.
