One day the wife decided to bake a biscuit. She took the gingerbread dough and turned it into the shape of a boy and baked it. She decorated it to give him eyes, shirt buttons, a mouth and other accessories. When the cookie was done baking, the couple went to take it out. The gingerbread boy came to life and ran away, yelling “Don’t eat me!" The couple tried to stop him but he jumped out the window yelling,“ Run, run, run as fast as you can! You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!”
Along his journey, he was met and chased by a cow, then a horse, then a pig…all who wanted to eat him. He outran them all until he came to a river. He couldn’t cross it without becoming soggy and falling apart. He met a fox there who offered to help him. The fox told him to get on his back and they swam across the river. The fox told him that the water was getting deeper and he’d have to get up onto his head. The fox continued to do this until the gingerbread boy was on his nose. He then tossed the gingerbread boy into the air and caught him in his mouth before devouring him.
The moral of the story: If you want happy little gingerbread boys…and girls, don’t bake them…buy them!
