The story of Sock Monkeys can be traced back to the early 1930s, when the Nelson Knitting Company added the now-famous red heel to its socks. When used to make the puppets, the red heel would form the monkey's distinctive mouth.
The Rockford, Illinois-based company eventually discovered that its socks were being used to make sock puppets. By 1955, Nelson Kitting had been awarded a patent on the puppets. Afterwards the company began including a sock monkey pattern in each pack of socks.
Our Sock Monkey Bunk-Beds Fabric is a very versatile 100% cotton fabric designed by Erin Michael. The design is composed of sock monkey puppets in an M.C. Escher-like impossible dream of bunk-beds connected by ladders over a blue background.
Items that you can make for your home include lampshades, draperies, bed sheets, pillow covers and blankets. Sock Monkey Bunk-Beds Fabric fabric is ideal for shirts, skirts, backpacks, handbags, quilts and other items for children and adults.
