In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the style of Art Nouveau became an important movement in art, architecture and design. The style is characterized by flowing, highly stylized lines with an emphasis on floral motifs.

The Art Nouveau style caught the imagination of prominent artists, who furthered its development. In Belgium, Henry Van de Velde and Victor Horta applied the Art Nouveau style to architecture and furniture design. In Great Britain, Charles Rennie Mackintosh was a prominent exponent of this style, as can still be seen in his architectural designs such as the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Spain’s Art Nouveau movement took the form of Modernisme, especially the fantastical architecture of Antonio Gaudí. Other prominent Art Nouveau artists were Hector Guimard, Alfons Mucha, Aubrey Beardsley and Léon Bakst.

The Art Nouveau style pervades the design of Minton Celtic: Curry. This decorator fabric incorporates essential Art Nouveau elements, such as curvilinear lines and floral motifs. The design is in burgundy and mustard over a maize background.

Minton Celtic: Curry will introduce a sophisticated aesthetic element into your home décor. It can be used to make curtains, slipcovers, lampshades, seat covers, table covers, bedspreads and much more.
