The Iowa State Cyclones are part of the NCAA Division I Big Twelve Conference, home of powerhouse sports teams such as Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Nebraska.
In football the Cyclones have an in-state rivalry with the Iowa Hawkeyes that is played out yearly. The victor of this contest is awarded the Cy-Hawk Trophy.
In basketball, the Cyclones have had many successful seasons. Throughout its long history, Iowa State has won various conference championships and sent a number of players to the NBA.
