Verner Panton (1926-1998) was renowned for the flair and élan of his furniture, lighting and fabric designs. His work in a variety of media demonstrated an aesthetic defined by curves and audacious colors. His resistance to convention can be seen in such innovative designs as the Flying Chair and the S Chair.
Although Verner Panton worked with a variety of materials, some of his most enduring work can be seen in his vibrant textile designs. Geometri White/Black is just one of many classic fabric designs from the imagination of Verner Panton. The Geometri pattern originated in 1960 and was his first fabric design. Geometri was first displayed at the 1961 Plus-Linje furniture show in Zurich, Switzerland. In 1963 this outstanding decorator fabric received the International Design Award in the United States.
Geometri White/Black has an immediately recognizable design of white and black circles and squares. The large circles measure in 5 3/8" in diameter, the medium-sized circles measure 2 5/8" in diameter, and the small circles are 1 1/8" in diameter. The dimensions of the squares measure 6 5/8" H by 6 3/4" V for the large, 3 1/8" H by 3 1/4" V for the medium, and 1 1/2" H by 1 5/8" V for the small.
Geometri White/Black has so many possibilities. Draperies, wall hangings, seat cushions, pillows, lampshades, slipcovers and table covers are just a few of the items that can be made to show off the shapes and colors of Verner Panton's perpetually modern Geometri design.
