Caring for your Cowboy and Cowgirl Novelty Fabric

Our cowboy and cowgirl novelty Fabrics are easy to care for. They are machine washable in cool or warm water and they can be machine dried. To keep your cotton fabrics soft, just add a little bit of fabric softener. Proper handling and cleaning will have the following benefits:

  • Garments will maintain a fresh appearance longer
  • Color fading will be minimized
  • Damage to fabric from laundering will be reduced
  • The useful life of fabric will be extended, making your money go farther

Stains

It is always best to take care of stains promptly. Blot excess liquid with a clean white cloth or paper towel. Also, avoid rubbing the stained area with a dark colored cloth. Never rub a fresh stain with a bar of soap as this simply sets the stains. Rubbing a stain excessively can also make it spread and damage the fibers, finish and colors. Avoid using hot water on stains of unknown origin. Hot water can set protein stains such as milk, egg, or blood.

Storing your Cowboy and Cowgirl Novelty Fabric

Before storing your fabrics for an extended period of time, it is important to have them properly laundered to prevent dust, soil and stains from attracting critters. Furthermore, avoid storing your fabrics in attics or basements where they may be more vulnerable to mold, mildew and insects. The best location in your home for fabric storage is a cool, dry room. If using a closet, make sure there is sufficient air circulation to prevent mold growth. Always store your fabrics out of direct sunlight.

These Cowboy and Cowgirl novelty fabrics can be stored in bags of linen, cotton or muslin. Do not use plastic bags, cedar chests or cardboard boxes for storage. Fumes from polyurethane foam, cedar closets and acids in unvarnished wood and cardboard can damage your fabrics. Acid free tissue paper can also be employed. If possible, store your fabrics rolled rather than folded to prevent difficult to remove creases from forming. If folding fabrics is your only option, try removing the fabric and refold it regularly to prevent permanent creasing.
