You will need:

  • Several different Valentine print fabrics. 1/3 yard for the front of the owl and 1/3 for the back.
  • A small plate (tea saucer) and a large dinner plate (for the patterns)
  • Red and pink felt fabric for the wings, eyes and other embellishments
  • Fiber fill stuffing
  • Coordinating thread
  • Two 8.5” x 11” pieces of standard computer paper
  • Fabric adhesive

What to do:

Begin with the owl pattern. Tape the two pieces of computer paper together, side-by-side. Trace the dinner plate onto the paper and then trace the tea saucer sized plate inside of that.

Once the circles are drawn, draw where the eyes, nose, feet and wings should be placed.

Next, cut out the pieces as follows:

  • 2 owl bodies
  • 2 feet
  • 2 wings
  • 2 outer eyes
  • 2 center eyes
  • 1 nose
  • 1 heart

Pin the fabric owl body front and back together (inside out) and stitch all the way around, leaving a gap for stuffing. When finished, turn right-side-out, stuff and sew closed. Trim any excess.

Finish your lovely owl by gluing on the above list of parts with a sturdy fabric adhesive! If you are the queen of all things crafty, you may wish to sew the pieces to the owl.
