It can be tricky to decorate with bold fabric prints without overwhelming the room. This is especially true with smaller spaces
Ways to introduce a bold print fabric into a room without it stealing the show:
- Use the fabric on smaller items, such as: Lampshades, chair cushions, drink coasters, photo frames, throw pillows or even a small area rug. Sometimes just a small pop is all it takes to add pizzazz to a space. If you like several bold prints, frame them and use them as wall decor!
- Once you have chosen your bold print, pull colors in it out to determine the solids for the room. Use one of the solid colors to serve as the main hue and go from there! The solid shades will work to dramatically tone down the fabric.
- Remember that the solid color in the room should not be overwhelming, like a red or deep purple. The space will feel more open and airy when you use lighter colors like shades of white or lighter colors. If you must, just paint one accent wall a richer color and leave the remainder light.
