It’s summer, time to shed our jackets and boots in favor of skin baring tops and open toes and enjoy the outdoors. While we’re out there, we’ll probably want to sit at some point. That brings us to outdoor furniture… and outdoor living in general.
Outdoor Furniture
When furnishing your outdoor living space, remember outdoor chairs will be subject to the least care and the most abuse. The fabrics and materials need to be extremely sturdy to withstand the weather and use. Marine Grade Vinyl is your most durable option. It’s the standard of the boating industry because it is resistant to cracking, mildew, fungus, salt water, and staining. If you are planning to recover your patio furniture, and you know that you are going to leave it out for most of the summer, this fabric can take it. PVC Coated Polyester is also a great option. Both can be easily wiped down with soap and water. Acrylic and polyester outdoor fabrics are also quite durable, but it’s not recommended to clean them with bleach and water, as this can cause the pattern to fade. These fabrics can also be more versatile in terms of décor. Try them in a pretty solid or a fun, funky retro pattern. Florals and tropical patterns look great pool side.
Outdoor Entertaining and Fashion
There are all kinds of fun, functional items that pull together your outdoor look. Beach totes, outdoor placemats, and outdoor table cloths are all fun, simple craft projects, and most outdoor-friendly fabrics will work. If you want to make a tote bag that will look good with anything, denim is a great choice that will wash easily and look good for a long time.
With so much to create it’s time to stop talking about it and get to work before the summer slips through our fingers!
