The Easiest Fabric Tabletop Ever

Tablecloths are a nice touch and can be changed to accommodate the occasion, but it can a pain to keep them neatly in place. Enter a novel idea: a fabric tabletop! This is a great way to revamp that family heirloom or just add a bit of intrigue to a plain-jane table. Begin by selecting your fabric of choice in our online fabric store!

This no-sew fabric tabletop is the perfect substitution for the traditional tablecloth!

You will need:

  • Fabric. Use a decorative print, solid, or a mixture of coordinating fabrics for an artsy effect.
  • A white lining fabric (or color, depending on your decorative fabric colors)
  • If you choose to hem the edges, try a blanket stitch. Otherwise, just use an iron to press the edges under neatly
  • Fabric scissors
  • Fabric craft paper
  • Pencil
  • Pins
  • Glass sheet cut to fit the tabletop

What to do:

  • Lay crafting paper on floor and place glass tabletop over it. Trace around the glass with pencil.
  • Cut out the paper. This will be your pattern.
  • Place the paper over the fabric and pin.
  • Using pencil, trace around pattern leaving a ½” seam allowance.
  • Repeat with lining fabric
  • Cut out fabric and lining fabric and then pin them together, inside out.
  • Stitch with a ½” seam, leaving a small opening to turn right-side out.
  • Turn out, finish stitching and press flat
  • If desired, top stitch around edging
  • Place on table and cover with glass!
