DIY Iron Caddy Saves Clothes and Money Too!

jandofabricsBeing a mobile retailer, I am often traveling to and fro with my freshly created and pressed garments in tow to do a fashion show or event hours away. And while many times my destination will have an iron provided for needed touch ups, certainly that has not always been the case (especially w/provision of one that suits my taste). It is as a result of these past experiences that the decision to tote my own trusty iron along was finally made. Enter the DIY iron caddy.

How To: Sew A Felt Needle Book

Felt Needle Book Finished

It is a fact, I love to sew. It doesn’t matter if it’s on the machine or by hand. I also enjoy embroidery and have a couple dozen projects in progress. Since summer is soon approaching that means I’ll be traveling again. When I travel I like to pack my sewing and embroidery gear with me. So, I created this felt needle book to keep my pins and needles in place while on the road. The felt keeps them secure. If I have a needle already threaded it can easily be tucked away for a quick repair anytime and anywhere!

To Couch, With Love

Everyone loves getting postcards. There is nothing quite like knowing that someone who cares about you is thinking of you while they are off exploring new places. A great way to preserve that sentiment is by creating a pillow replica of your favorite postcards. You can even create your own original postcard pillow to keep or send to a friend.

Required Materials:

J&o pillow project supplies

  • The 2 fabrics you want to use for your pillow (I recommend canvas for the side you will be writing on)
  • A sewing machine (if you want to hand stitch your pillow, that is fine too)

Route 66 Fabric: Celebrate the Romance and Freedom!

Some know it as ‘The Main Street of America’. Others refer to it affectionately as ‘The Mother Road’ or the ‘Wil Rogers Highway’. But what is it about this infamous Route 66 that has people knocking down the doors of J&O, scrambling for whatever yardage they can find, and jumping for joy once their package of cherished fabric has been received?

Tell me please…..what is it about this original federal U.S. route that inspired the 1946 song “Get your Kicks on Route 66”, which was written and composed by jazz performer Bobby Troup and later performed and made popular by a slue of musical artists such as Nat King Cole, Depeche Mode, Chuck Berry, Van Morrison and The Rolling Stones?
