Casual Wear…The New Summer 2020 Fashion Trend.

With everyone from corporate power players and university professors, to fashion stylists and customer service reps working from home, work place dress codes have taken a bit of a shift from their standard protocol, towards the more ‘comfortable’ casual wear. Who can blame us? We all know how comfortable casual velvet, brushed cottons, jersey knits and stretch fabrics can be in athletic wear, pj’s and yoga wear. Even Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour who once professed to never stoop so low as to wear sweats, deigned to be photographed for an article wearing just such a leisure habiliment. Could the professional script on the horizon now be flipped from ‘casual Friday’s’ to ‘casual everyday’? Will the standard ‘dress down’ be the new ‘dress up’? Only time will tell.

Face Mask Fashion From Around The World

Armored up and blinged out true Nollywood style!

As health officials and government leaders around the globe have been taking precautionary  measures to  ‘flatten the curve’, fashionistas world-wide have started to fall in line in their own creative way.

What started out as a safety measure, in a seemingly short time, became yet another way to express ones self while aiding in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.  And although mostly a trending safety protocol for now, we have a feeling it’s an accessory that’s here to stay awhile.  As such, we thought it would be fun to virtually travel around the world for a little inspiration capturing. After all, if it’s going to become part of our daily ensemble, we might as well make it the creative tool of individual expression and fashion it can certainly be.

Go Green Gina: Fast Fashion vs Ethical Fashion

We are living in the age of fast fashion vs ethical fashion , where textile mills and design houses are now belting out new fashions almost 52 times a year instead of at the standard semi annual rate. Where the fashions are cheaper and the mentality cultivated  in consumers is one of waste. The desire for instant gratification and an embedded, incessant need for the latest ‘in’ thing means once a new trend comes in, the easily affordable fashions are now disposable before they really had a chance to get any wear really. And since the new fashions are more accessible to the masses, what’s the incentive in saving them anyway? Do we really need to over-consume like this to make us FEEL rich or successful inside? And are we taking a moment to even question what the price being paid is on the other side?

Rita Moreno Turns the 90th Oscar’s Red Carpet Green

This past weekend marked the 90th Anniversary of the Oscar’s , a night set aside each year to recognize excellence in cinematic achievements within the American film industry. However, for many fashionistas, designers and viewers worldwide, it is the night of the red carpet fashion parade. For fashion watchers this time, it was the night Rita Moreno turned the Oscar’s red carpet green.

As in years past, there often unfolds a seemingly unintentional color palate or design concept that becomes the fashion theme for the night. Whether it is black and form fitting or low plunging necklines and open backs, which fashion trends take center stage is always an anticipation and highlight.

2014 Color Trends

jandofabrcs

Twice a year, color forecasters go into research mode to predict and dictate the palates that the fashion industry and ultimately, we as consumers, will prescribe to for the season ahead.  One of the most respected and established is Pantone. With almost 2,000 colors in their index of tile colors and over 20 years of setting the color standards used worldwide to create a unified communication code for international use, they have become one of the leading global authorities on color.  Once their forecast is set, textile manufactures produce specifically dyed fabrics that designers inturn purchase for their collections. For them, these forecasts are viewed as a ‘self-fulfilling prophecy’ where those who choose to follow will become part of what ultimately becomes the trend….and what designer wants to be irrelevant?

Golden Globe’s 2014 Red Dress Affair!

If you didn’t get a chance to stick around and check all the big wins  this past weekend at the 2014 Golden Globes Awards,  maybe you at least got a sneak peak of the red carpet styling as designers vied for celebrities to dress,  fashion police made arrests, and talk show hosts selected their best to be put on display. The only thing missing….a few good firemen to put out the flames as ladies on fire lit up the runway!

Frolic Fashionably This Fall

There are some seriously bold trends that hit the runway this fall. And when we say bold we mean daring and in highlighter colors. This is our straight forward guide to help you navigate through a sea of mismatched patterns and confusing fads.

#1: Color Blocking

A lot of shoppers are afraid to jump into this trend. Many think that the bright geometric shapes are unflattering or just downright frightening to try to pull off. Just remember that even though you are shopping for a specific look, you should still shop for your body type and not just buy pieces because they fit this style. If you are simply frightened of wearing a skirt with orange and green blocks all over it but still want to rock this look, starting out small with shoes is a good place to begin.

Happy almost- fall everyone!

For most, this is the fantastic time of the year when school is starting, the hot summer nights turn into cool sleeping weather, and Halloween candy starts appearing in supermarkets. In the fashion world something equally as fantastical and marvelous is happening: fall collections are hitting the runways.
