For most, this is the fantastic time of the year when school is starting, the hot summer nights turn into cool sleeping weather, and Halloween candy starts appearing in supermarkets. In the fashion world something equally as fantastical and marvelous is happening: fall collections are hitting the runways.

From Adriana Bertini and Emma Kaywin to Marc Jacobs and Jack Mackenroth, crafting couture creations with condoms makes not only a fashion statement, but an ecologically conscience one as well.
The marriage of prophylactics and pret-a-porter may not be a new one, but discovering the different ways to wrap a rubber can be quite exciting none the less. Just how many condoms does it take to make a bathing suit, sundress or gown anyway? 500…5,000? The thought certainly does give new meaning to not only preventive contraception, but preventive pollution too. With tons of expired and defective non-biodegradable latex condoms filling up our landfills annually, recycling them into wearable art is a creative way to recycle and repurpose while promoting safe sex too.
