Though I know that certain fabrics are more suitable for projects than other ones and have identified the general difference between natural fabrics and man-made ones, I admit I still have alot left to learn about how to properly care for them, various construction techniques, and how to determine how a fabric will drape or hang. On this note, I’m wondering what you can tell me about a fabrics ‘grain‘?

When deciding on the finishing of a hem, neckline or sleeve of a garment, the thought of using a bias binding tape may initially be the furthest from our mind. But upon reconsideration, one can see just how a splash of color at the arms and legs of a floral dress fabric, fun novelty cotton, or soft seersucker can offer just enough pizazz to make it uniquely different. Even home accent pieces such as pillows and quilts made with African Fabric or calico prints from J&O Fabrics seem to pop from a few yards of lemon yellow, cherry red, chocolate brown or lapiz blue bias tape.
