Martin Luther King & President Barack Obama

With the closing of one year and the opening of another, many of us who live by our planners often find ourselves marking off holidays and special occasions in our new date books and office/home calendars as soon as we get them. After the days off work and the days of vacation or celebration are securely implanted in our memory banks and written with countdown in mind, then come the doctors appointments, pta meetings, business conferences, and the list goes on and on.

The Journey to the White House Quilt

In June 2008, while watching a history making event on television, Dr Joan Gaither found herself reflecting on the man on her screen standing before millions as he pleaded to the nation to be the change we are all looking for. Inspired by his success, she began stitching a quilt that would one day take us along the long yet triumphant political journey of a young man starting from Honolulu Hawaii and culminating at the steps of the White House less than six months later as the 45th President of the United States.

That man…..Barack Obama.

J&O Fabrics Celebrates 100 Days in Office with President Barack Obama Cottons.

Usually we only list one fabric for the Fabric Award of the Week, but last week we got in three prints from VIP’s Barack Obama cotton print collection that are really something special.

When Barack Obama first became elected as the 44th President of the United States back in January of this year, the printed fleece carrying his blazoned image in commemoration of his triumphant and historic win, sold out in a matter of minutes in many fabric stores across the country including ours. And as we placed orders for more, our customers demands for cotton prints as well as the fleece grew. A few weeks later, the mills started printing the cottons, and our customers couldn’t be happier.

J&O, Michelle Obama, Jashon Wu & YOU!

January 20, 2009 will go down in U.S. fashion history not only as the day the first African-American stood before millions to take his official oath of office at the 44th President of the United States, but also as the day his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, took her silent and UN-official oath to represent savvy diva style for all the smart, elegant, feminine, yet powerful women of the seasoned bunch.

Barack Obama Visits J&O Fabric !

They say every man is born with a purpose, and from an early age, the unseen hand of purpose was upon Barack Obama; molding and shaping him, guiding him into and throughout his political career until his purpose met with victory at the 2008 presidential elections. A victory meant for him at this place and this time in the evolution of mankind. A purpose no more and no less than the little girl who grows up to become a successful actress or the little boy who becomes a starving artist. That all three honored their respective purposes is the dream most wish and strive to fulfill.

A New Year’s Message From J&O Fabrics.

2008 began a whole new cycle according to the Chinese Astrological Calendar. It was the year and the time for planting the seeds for the next twelve years, assessing our dreams and goals, and asking ourselves some really hard questions about what we want and who we want it with. The year of the Rat required us to look ourselves in the mirror, breathe a deep breath, and take those calculated steps forward without looking back. And that we did.
