Simple Styrofoam Fabric Wall Art

If you think you have to have a degree in interior design…or even experience…to pull off this awesome fabric craft, think again! The following step-by-step tutorial By Tamarynn of ‘Sew Dang Cute’ will teach you how to transform a wall in any room using just Styrofoam and your favorite fabrics! This is a fast and fab way to update any space in your home—your guests will notice this piece instantly! Start by choosing your fabrics here, this part will take the longest!

This is your chance to mix and match modern and bold fabrics to change the vibe in any room

You will need: (to re-create Tamarynn’s shape)
• Two sheets of Styrofoam: 1” X 12” X 36” and 1” X 12” X 12”
• Remember that you can make any styro-shapes your heart desires, you do not have to do it exactly the same
• The pattern is pictured above
• Fabrics of your choice that compliment one another and add interest
• Fabric adhesive
• Scissors or rotary cutter

What to do:
• Cut the foam into desired shapes. This is a messy job, but someone has to do it! Outside!
• Decide what fabric will go where. This part is fun and may take you a while—just bask in the creative process and move the pieces around until they look the most pleasing to you!
• Cut the fabric pieces so that they are larger than the foam pieces. You want the fabric to wrap around the sides of the art and cover the sides completely. You do not want to be standing in the doorway and see white foam showing!

• Take the time to glue the fabric on smoothly and securely with no wrinkles or lumps. Allow to dry completely
• Apply the topcoat of decoupage to seal and protect the fabric. Coat edges and corners evenly as well!

• Recommended: Secure the pieces together with Gorilla Glue.
• Secure to wall with a light but durable clasp
• Stand back and enjoy! (After you snap a quick photo to share with us on Facebook, of course!)
