The only thing scarier than the witches and goblins that appear on the streets during the Halloween season is how fast October 31st is approaching! Between getting kids settled at school and everyone returning from summer vacations to buckle down at work, this month promises to be a hectic one. In order to create an adorable costume in no time (and with minimal cash), we collected these down and dirty ideas that require nothing but colorful felt, a headband, a glue gun, and clothes that you already own.
Black Cat
This iconic figure of halloween is right up there with pumpkins and witches. The only difference is that it is much easier to emulate a cat’s look. By cutting out black felt and gluing it onto a black headband (or perhaps a headband that matches your hair) all you need is a black shirt, pants, and a tail if you feel so inclined. This is a good costume to dress up for adults, and one that can be made utterly adorable for kids.
Devil
If you want to go a bit edgier this year, we recommend devil horns. Nothing says mischief on mischief night like touting your horns loud and proud. After all, isn’t it only fair after being perfect angels all year that we have one night to be a little devilish? Just attach the horns to your headband, put on some black and red garb, and out into the night you go.
Bunny
What is more fun than hopping around a halloween party? Layer your choice of felts and hot glue them together to create an adorable bunny look. If you plan on doing a lot of jumping around, you might want to glue your felt to some elastic so that they don’t go flying! What is a bunny without its ears?! To complete the look, channel Bugs Bunny: grey pants, grey shirt, and white gloves. If you want to go the extra mile, pin a big oval of light pink felt on your chest and attach a bunch of cotton balls to the back of your pants for a tail.
