Pretty Little Pumpkins

We at J&O love theĀ fall. Cooler weather, the trees change to new and vibrant colors, and pumpkin pie is regularly on the dinner menu; honestly though, whats not to love? To celebrate the changing of the seasons, we created these adorable little pumpkins.

What you will need:

Step 1: Fold a piece of orange felt, and trace the outline of a pumpkin onto the top layer. I sized mine around how much scrap fabric I had to stuff the finished pumpkin with. Also, to prepare to cut the fabric and make sure that it does not slide, I pinned the two layers together.

Step 2: Cut out the pumpkin outline.

Step 3: Trace the stem of the pumpkin the same way that you traced the outline of the pumpkins (fold the fabric).

Step 4: Pin the fabric together and cut it out.

Step 5: Sew the two pieces of the stem together, then sew the completed stem to the top of one of the pumpkin outlines.

Step 6: Pin the two sides of the pumpkin together with the stem in the middle. I started out with some of the scrap fabric that I used to fill the pumpkin already inside.

Step 7: Sew the two sides of the pumpkin together leaving a little bit open space to stuff scrap fabric into the center of the craft to give it dimension. Then, fill the center with scrap fabric and finish sewing around the edge.

Step 8: Place the pumpkin wherever your heart desires!jandofinishedfeltpumpkin

This is a fantastic Halloween craft for kids to do. I kept my pumpkin simple in the example, but there really is no limit to how creative you can get with this craft.
