How would you define madness? In just a few days we’ll all be subject to the craziness that is March Madness, the NCAA’s college basketball tournament that is one of the most exciting events in American sports. March Madness is a single elimination tournament featuring 65 college basketball teams. The madness even precedes the tournament as teams vie for entry or position during their conference tournaments. Once in, each team faces a gauntlet of games before reaching the ultimate destination: the Championship Game.
The very first tournament was held in 1939 and was the brainchild of legendary Kansas coach Phog Allen. UCLA has won the most national titles with 11, followed by Kentucky (7), Indiana and North Carolina (5 each).
