Cool fabric ceiling or wall décor idea we loved on Fabric.com
To recreate this look, you will need:
- Fabrics of your choice from our online store
- Tape
- Lightweight cardboard
- Fabric adhesive like Mod Podge
- Scissors
- Decorative embellishments like fabric covered buttons, fabric flowers, glitter or other items as desired
What to do:
- Draw your own shape patterns onto paper. Look at the area you wish to cover and decide how large or small you want the fabric pieces
- Next, use the patterns to cut out the fabric. For each piece of fabric, cut out a piece of lightweight cardboard to serve as the backing.
- Paint a light layer of Mod Podge onto the cardboard and glue the fabric to it
- Allow to dry completely
- Trim any excess fabric around the edging and feel free to add embellishments like decorative buttons or fabric flowers to your shapes!
- Practice moving the shapes around on the floor to make sure you like the way they look before securing them to the ceiling
- Pro-tip: This can also be a 3D craft if you use transparent string and create boxes or spheres rather than flat shapes. The overall effect would be like a very large baby crib mobile, attractive to the child and relaxing at the same time!
