For ultimate softness and comfort, there is nothing quite like a fleece pillow. Flash back to the Old Navy polar fleece craze in the 1990’s and you can begin to understand the widespread affinity for this special fabric! This fleece fabric pillow tutorial will have you snuggled up in no time—and it is a ‘no sew’ project! (You can find our selection of fleece fabric by clicking the link!)
You will need:
• Pillow insert of your choice ranging from 14-24 inches square, depending on desired size. Note: 17 inches is adequate for a sofa or bed.
• 2 fleece squares. Allow an extra 6 inches beyond the size of the pillow. Example: For a 17-inch pillow, cut two 23-inch fleece pieces.
• Scissors (why do I always want to type “schissors”?) or a rotary cutter
• Tip: You may use two separate colors or prints for a more versatile pillow

What to do:
• Cut the fringe. Fleece is pliable and stretchy, so place the two pieces directly on top of each other. Pull on the fabric to make sure the stretchiest sides match (oddly, fleece fabric tends to stretch more in one direction, to determine this, just tug on your fabric).
• Cut a 3-5 inch square out of each corner, depending on how long you want the fringe
• Now cut 1-inch strips along all four sides, as pictured. Keep both pieces of fleece together as you cut, ensuring symmetry. You can go slimmer than 1 inch for a dainty fringe, but anything wider is challenging to tie
• Work your way around the pillow, tying strips of fleece from the bottom piece to the top neatly together. Leave one side open to stuff pillow.
• To avoid disaster, tie a few strips on each corner first, so that you do KNOT have to go back and redo them!
• Now gingerly stuff the pillow insert into place. You may wish to go back and tighten or loosen certain pieces at this point.
• Tie off the remaining side, ensuring that you will be able to easily untie it for washing purposes.
• Voila! You are now an expert at creating fleece pillows your way!
