How to make an NFL No Sew Blanket
Ever wonder what to do with all of those awesome NFL fleece prints you see on our website? Well here’s one really easy idea.
With just a few supplies you can make your very own NFL No Sew Fleece Throw in a matter of minutes for half the price of anything pre-made and store bought. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Scissors or Rotary Cutter (using a rotary cutter, be sure your blade is sharp)
- Straight Edge (for use with your rotary cutter)
- Minimum 1 yard of fleece fabric
Being a Philly Girl, I made an Eagles Blanket.
Before you begin your blanket, consider the size you want it to be. Most fleece is 60″ wide. If you want a child sized blanket or a small throw for your feet 1 yard is perfect. If you’d rather have a square blanket, you’ll need to purchase 1 5/8 yards of fabric. If you’re making a blanket to wrap yourself up in or for a larger person we suggest 2- 2 1/2 yards of length.
Here’s all you need to do to make your No Sew Fleece Blanket.
Lay your fleece fabric out on a table as flat as possible. If your using a rotary cutter make sure you use a rotary cutter mat underneath your cutting area. Now cut off the selvage on each side of the fabrics edge. The selvage is the edge that runs along the entire bottom of the fabric when it was wrapped around the bolt. Selvages on woven fabrics are to keep them from raveling or fraying. Manufacturers often use the selvage during the fabrics printing process to help identify the fabric and assure the colors are correct.
That’s pretty much it! If your a perfectionist like me you’ll want to use your sharp rotary cutter with your straight edge to make sure every edge is perfect. But lets face it, after a few spills and a few washings who really cares.
