Lightbulb! Cover that old lampshade (and perhaps lamp, too!) with a pop of fabric!
The process is simple: just measure your shade from top to bottom and add 2 inches for the fabric to cover.
- Measure the circumference of the lampshade and add ½ inch to allow for overlap
- Cut the fabric
- Spray the wrong side of the fabric with a quality fabric adhesive and gently work it into place, covering the old shade. Smooth fabric with fingers and wrap the fabric around the shade, securing with more adhesive.
- Pro-tip: make sure you cut the slits for the support wires beforehand!

Designer lamp in minutes:
- This idea is similar. Just measure your lamp and cut the fabric strip 2 inches longer and 1 inch wider than the base and shade areas.
- Press a 1 inch hem on both long sides and one short side of each fabric piece. This will hide any fraying from the cut side of the fabric. Hem if you prefer the look.
- Spray fabric adhesive onto the lamp base and gently work the fabric over it.
- For extra hold, use a touch of glue along the hemmed edges of the fabric.
