Content: 76% Polyester, 24% Cotton

With the high polyester content, buyers can rest assured that they are getting a fabric that is not only durable, but extremely strong too. Mildew and abrasion resistant with a hydrophobic nature, the added polyester dries up quickly when accidental spills make it to its surface.

Abrasion: 50,000+ double rubs

Abrasion resistance as it pertains to textile fabrics basically means how much abrasion (rubs) can a textile stand before its fibers start to show signs of breakdown. In this case,  the number of double rubs represented indicates a high performance material. This info is important especially if you are planning on purchasing fabric to re/upholster seating furniture. The higher the resistance number, the more durable the material.

Flammability: This textile meets all appropriate flammability requirements, including California Bulletin #117 and NFPA 260, and is compatible with California Bulletin #133.

This piece of info is vital especially if you are planning on using the fabric in a public facility or on commercial property. If heaven forbid you purchased this material to make window dressings or cushions for a gala affair or your new restaurant and a fire broke out, the last thing you want to be sighted for if anyone got hurt is not meeting fire safety codes. Not only will you receive a nice fine for your negligence, but possible lawsuits from injured individuals as well.

Lightfastness: 40+ Hours

Generally the AATCC 16E method is widely used for testing purpose. In this method a test specimen (fabric) is exposed under the condition specified in various test methods for 20hours, 40 hours or 60 hours and the factors affecting light fastness. 40 hours is considered an expected Class 4 rating for upholstery fabric.

Maintenance: S-Clean with mild, water-free dry cleaning solvent.

Spot cleaning is the recommended mode of cleaning for small spills on this type of fabric.

Reduced Environmental Impact: Environmentally Improved

Not a completely green fabric, but manufactured with a more environmentally conscientious approach and more  ecology-based alternatives.

Manufacturing Process: chemical free finishing.

Many finished textile fabrics are pre-treated with soil and/or water repellents and some form of mildew inhibitor during the manufacturing process. While this helps with maintenance and care by keeping spills from being absorbed into the upholstery fibers right away, it also leaves a chemical residue on the material. Our finishing on our mid-century paisley is chemical free offering a more eco-friendly alternative to treated material

Rapidly Renewable Content: 24% cotton

In the world of textile goods, “rapidly renewable” as a material that’s able to regenerate itself in 10 years or less. That includes bio-based products made from plants harvested on a 10-year (or shorter) cycle. The goal of using rapidly renewable content is to reduce the number and quantity of products made from fossil-fuel derivatives

Reduced Emissions: Greenguard and Greenguard for Children and Schools certified for indoor air quality.

Sounds eco-friendly and child-friendly to me!
