When I was in high school, Opening Day was the equivalent to Senior Skip Day. Anyone who could finagle a ride and tickets would attend the first baseball game of the season. Of course, those in the north shivered through the innings because Spring doesn’t officially start until after that last freezing rain or snow storm.
Even though the official Opening Day has passed, we chose the perfect baseball game accompaniment for those chilly days and nights — our fabulous selection of Major League Baseball fleece fabric. How about pairing a warm blanket in your favorite team colors with a hot chocolate and dog?
You won’t even need a sewing machine to make this “no-sew” fleece blanket, only accurate measurements.
Supplies you will need:
- Printed outerwear fleece
- Outerwear fleece in solid or coordinating print
- A good tape measure
- 45 to 60 millimeter rotary cutter
- Quick-cut guide
- One large and one small cutting mat
To make your no-sew fleece blanket:
- Cut your fabric to the appropriate dimensions.
- Place the two pieces of fabric over each other with the wrong sides together.
- Cut a five inch square from each corner.
- Use the quick-cut guide and rotary cutter to make fringe that that is one inch wide and five inches deep on all sides of the fabric.
- Tie the front and back fringe together using an overhand knot. Remember not to stretch the fabric.
No-sew fleece blankets are easy to care for and make great gifts. Fleece is pill-resistant and virtually stain-proof. It is machine washable and holds its color very well.
Fleece fabric is not only soft, but it also dries quickly and still insulates when wet (in case you get surprised with spring showers.)
