Since our successful NFL Craft Fabric Contest, the crew at J&O Fabrics has been busily brainstorming our next creative contest for our cool & crafty customers to showcase their hidden skills and fabulous natural gifts!
With the first day of spring eagerly rolling in this weekend (March 21st), the desire to awaken from our hibernation and embrace the changing of the seasons starts to stir within. Welcomed thoughts of opening up our windows, cleaning out the old, and bringing renewed life to old outdoor living spaces, uninspiring rooms, tired windows, and outdated furnishing, ignites creative juices in the minds of both novices and artisans alike, calling us to explore avenues of expression within ourselves that have yet to be fully discovered. Like Mother Nature herself, we move into the new season ready to transform our lives and our environments to reflect an addition to our family, a change in our relationships, or even a major shift along our journey that brings a new lease on life. Maybe you decided to finally make your house your home. Maybe you were given an opportunity from the universe to make a living doing what you love instead of working for someone that didn’t value you. Or maybe you simply were ready to nurture the creator inside you and try your hand at something new. No matter what the reason, NOW is the season!
This being said, we at J&O thought it would be fun to offer up a challenge of sorts to not only see how creative you can be, but how recession and ecologically friendly as well. Pockets tight but tired of looking at that same old couch with that thick plaid print from the 70’s running throughout? No problem, a stop at your local library for a ‘How To’ book and then a visit on our online fabric store for some discount designer upholstery prints by Richloom or Covington, and you are two steps closer to a couch you can be proud of. Windows still dressed in that same heavy burgundy material you put on them over 20 years ago? Time to strip them off and give ’em something to smile about with beautiful handcrafted swags trimmed in the finest cording from our Baroque line and made with elegant floral prints from our Colonial Williamsburg Collection. Even members of the J&O family are having an urge to splurge. While Carol and Nettie are bringing new life to their outdoor living spaces with some eco-friendly bamboo and kona cotton, Ryan is finding creative ways to re-fashion an added game room in his home using cool tapestry from our fun and games collection. With so many looks and styles to choose from, half the fun of turning something old into something new, is the process. With this in mind, we welcome in J&O Fabrics ‘Handcrafted Home Makeover Challenge!’

All entrees are due by April 16, 2010. Voting starts April 18th on our Facebook page and ends April 25th. Winners announced Monday April 26, 2010. Once selected, the winner will be notified via email and Facebook. Your finished project will be featured on Facebook as well as our J&O Fabrics Blog Page for our customers worldwide to view.
