As our Facebook Fan page keeps growing, more and more of our crafty customers are showing off their cool creations for our J&O family and community to view, share, and comment on. One such fan is fellow Facebook page holder, Victoria Fogle of Scraps and Straps .
A while back, Victoria posted a picture on our Facebook page of a laptop case she made with some fabric she purchased from us online. We asked her if she was willing to tell us a little more about her creations and this is what she had to say…
” I started my business (Scraps and Straps) almost a year ago selling laptop cases, iPad cases, bags and miscellaneous cases for electronics. I have been accepting custom orders and selling my own creations as well. A while back I was contacted by a customer about making a personalized laptop case. He made it very clear that he wanted this to be a very unique, special case. This case was going to be a surprise for his girlfriend who happens to be a hug Scrabble fan. So i started my research by going to all my local fabric stores, and believe me, there at a LOT of fabric stores here in Utah. I went searching for anything remotely related to the Scrabble game. I was not able to find much, not even a trustworthy referral to another store or online market. I asked a good friend of mine from back home in Florida, who is very much into sewing, what she might recommend. She suggested I try J&O Fabrics. When I went on to your website and searched for ‘scrabble’, i found a few different options to choose from. The one I ended up buying was a panel with the actual game board, original box, letters, and everything identical to the game. For a 13″ Macbook case, the proportions of the game board and letters on the fabric aligned pretty well for this project. The only thing that may have made the case more Scrabble-esque is if I would have been able to find actual square letter pieces to use as the buttons. I chose to go with wooden buttons to keep the wooden letter theme and a matching interior light brown to coordinate with the Scrabble fabric itself. I used fusible fleece to line the fabric and included a 1/2″ foam padding to provide even more protection for the laptop. Needless to say, when my customer finally received and delivered the case to his girlfriend, she absolutely LOVED it!”
