It never ceases to amaze me, the amount of raw talent and creativity that exists in all of us. Yes, all of us. To one degree or another, whether nurtured 110% or simply left to play with now and again, the ever flowing creations that our imagination manifests into this reality reflect the power of the mind in truly amazing ways indeed.

For some, access to this raw creativity blends with the love of fabric to manifest amazing works of art, fashions, quilts, and more sought after the world over. For others, it’s the simpler ideas that solidify its originators a place in this world as artisans. For Nydia of Nydia’s Creations, it’s her desire to make her living environment as neat and reflective of her artistic side as possible that sparks her creative juices. Her newest project…cute, lace finished dish detergent mini aprons with coordinating plastic bag holders made from designer remnants that have admirers ordering in bulk. Using a mixture of assorted colors, prints and designs to appeal to not only the more eclectic consumer, but to the color palate of a more traditional kitchen layout, there’s an apron for everyone. With the added detail of a featured front pocket for rings and things that may otherwise slip off while doing dishes, it is clear consideration is given to Nydia’s crafts along with her time and energy.

Each apron / bag holder set requires less than 1/2 yard to complete.  I use everything from novelty cotton to decorative but find that the novelty cottons can be a little flimsy so that’s where interfacing comes in.  Once the right type of fabric is found, then it’s just a matter of locating prints that are not too big and are apropos for the kitchen color scheme“, says Nydia. ” The mini aprons conceal the messy detergent bottles, absorb the detergent into the fabric fibers in a way less noticeable,  and can be thrown right in the wash when ready. Plus, they’re just pretty“, she adds.
