This adorable ‘Three of a Kind Pillow’ was designed by the talented Judy Sams Sohn. Pick out your decorative fabrics from our vast online selection and get started on your own version today!
To recreate her pillow, you will need:
- 3 coordinating fabrics from J&O. Choosing your fabrics is the most fun step! You need the following sizes: 5”x18” (top), ½ yard (top and back), 9”x22” (pillow top)
- 16 ½” square of lightweight fusible interfacing
- 16” square pillow body (finished pillow will measure 16”)
What to do:
- Note: all seam allowances are ¼” and sew with right sides together unless otherwise instructed.
- Begin by cutting the fabrics as follows (The colors listed are based on the photo, so cut your fabrics according to the placement pictured):
From dark green print, cut:
1—4×16-1/2″ rectangle
From pink-and-green print, cut:
1—3-5/8×16-1/2″ rectangle
From pink-and-red print, cut:
2—10-3/4×16-1/2″ rectangles
1—3-5/8×16-1/2″ rectangle
From light green print, cut:
2—3-5/8×16-1/2″ rectangles
- Next, assemble the fabric pieces and press seams in one direction.
- Fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of the pillow top
- Turn under one long edge of each pink-and-red print 10-3/4×16-1/2″ rectangle 1/4″–press.
- Turn under 1/4″ again and stitch in place to hem pillow back pieces
- Overlap hemmed edges of back pieces by about 4”. This will create a 16 ½” square pillow back. Baste overlap.
- Finally, layer pillow top and back and stitch around edging, leaving a small gap for turning. Turn right side out, press, stuff and sew!
