How to make an NFL NO Sew Fleece Blanket with Fringe
We have so many great NFL team fleeces in our store and so many wonderful ideas on what to do with them! Here’s one:
With just a few supplies you can make a No Sew Fleece Blanket with Fringe. This is an inexpensive way to get creative and at the same time show your team spirit. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Scissors or Rotary Cutter
- Straight Edge
- Minimum 1 yard of fleece fabric
Before you begin your blanket, consider the size you want it to be. Most fleece is 60″ wide. If you want a child sized blanket or a small throw for your feet 1 yard is perfect. If you’d rather have a square blanket, you’ll need to purchase 1 5/8 yards of fabrics. If you’re making a blanket to wrap yourself up in or for a larger person we suggest 2 – 2 1/2 yards of length.
Here’s how to make your No Sew NFL Fleece Blanket with Fringe.
Lay your NFL fleece fabric out on a table as flat as possible. If your using a rotary cutter make sure you use a rotary cutter mat underneath your cutting area. Now cut off the selvage on each side of the fabrics edge. The selvage is the edge that runs along the entire bottom of the fabric when it is wrapped around the bolt. Selvages on woven fabrics are to keep them from raveling or fraying. Manufacturers often use the selvage during the printing process to help identify the fabric and assure the colors are correct.
Now it’s time to fringe! First you’ll want to cut about a 4″ square off of each corner. Start at any edge and cut your first fringe approximately 4″ long x 1″ wide, continue this process using your straight edge as your guide. Do this around the entire blanket.
That’s all you need to do!
OH! Have fun too!
