Mary, Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow? We got to thinking about our individual stashes of fabric, and why we all seem to hold on to them for so long. I only know that I have pieces from when I was about 16. When I go through my stash I don’t actually think about the age but, I remember quite clearly what I made with them. Last month or so on Facebook we asked:
Hey! How Far back do you and your oldest fabric go? Here are some answers we got when we asked our “Friends” on our J&O Fabric Store Facebook Page:
“1920’s…my grandma’s old house dresses, saved to do quilts with….maybe someday:( ” ~ Sara Elmore
” oh, really don’t want to go there…LOL” ~Cooki Welsh McClatchie
”25 years.. what that’s not normal?” ~Vee Ashburn
“mid-1970’s and I still love it… that’s why it’s still in my stash and not been used!!!” ~Jeanette West
“I’ve got some India gauze from the 70’s…” ~Kim Quinter
“I have fabric handed down from my mom. She used to make stuff for my kids, and now I’ve used it to make quilts for them and there is still lots of fabric left. Hmmmm, what should I make next?” ~Linda Hux
” I believe I have a 1960’s Mary Poppins print.” ~Kristie D’Amico Cummings
“HA!!! 40 years! I have a remnant form an outfit my mom made for me what I was a kid. I JUST used it to make a cloak for my daughter.” ~ Wendy Kaufman
and finally:
“last Tuesday.” ~Andrea Harrison

I don’t have much that I’ve kept for very long, but I recently bought a bunch of vintage fabric on eBay! lol! Don’t look, its a trap! My “looking” turned into 8 purchases and I’m waiting on more than 20 more! lmao!
My question is about the pic you have posted with this article. How do you make the flowers? I would love to teach my students this project! Its so cute! If there’s a pdf or link for it, please let me know!
Thank you!
