If you are a bride-to-be, you’ve probably been dazzled by those “platinum wedding” shows where everything is draped and bathed in crystals and flowers, only to be sobered up by a quick look at your own wedding budget. You’ve probably also been inspired by some awesome DIY projects that look like they were turned out by the pros. Fabric can hide a multitude of sins in a reception space or give your décor the “Wow!” factor. Here are some ways.

Lacy Invites
An invitation covered in lace is a real touch of class. To adhere the lace to the fabric, take these steps:
• Use spray adhesive with a bit of clear glue on the edges.
• Wrap in wax paper
• Place between the pages of a phone book or other heavy book and put weight on top
• Dry overnight
• Cut the excess fabric with a rotary cutter

Pipe and Draping
If your reception space is less than stellar, Pipe and Draping can hide many flaws. It is simply PVC piping with DIY drapes of sheer chiffon. Try these instructions for making a frame. An entire frame requires some handiness, but you can also use one long PVC pipe with curtain rod holders at each end.
Lace Table Runners
Simply cut a piece of lace as long as the diameter of a round table or the length of a square plus ten or twelve inches for each side. Sew the edges. This can really pull together the look of your table décor and tie in your color scheme.
Chair Tie Backs
Tie some chiffon or tulle around each chair for a fun touch of color. If you drape it well, you can get away with little or no sewing on the chiffon. Tulle does not fray and requires no sewing at all.
