Pro-tip: Use our NFL fleece fabric to make mittens for your little sports fans!
You will need:
- Fleece fabric
- Thin elastic band
- Coordinating thread
What to do:
- First create your pattern by tracing your child’s hand. It does not have to be perfect, mittens are easy like that. Just round out above the fingers to ensure space. Leave a 1” allowance for seams and fit.
- Make sure the elastic band is not too tight around the wrist, it should hang loosely so as not to restrict circulation.
- Measure the child’s forearm and decide how far up you would like the fleece glove to fit.
- Use the pattern to carefully cut out your fleece fabric
- Fold up the bottom part of the mittens and sew a ¼” stitch in each
- Eyeball where the child’s wrist falls for the elastic
- Sew one end down with straight stitches and backstitch. Next, zigzag to stretch the elastic to meet the other side
- Fold mitten in half and stitch with a ¼” seam
- To create the thumb, simply sew in a ‘V’
- Clip the corner of the thumb carefully and you are finished!
