I never thought I would say this, but there is a purpose for the doily! No offense to those fond of the fabric, it was simply overused in my grandmother’s home, evoking an early disdain for the look. Flash forward: you can create cute fabric cut-out pin using doily and fabric mixes!
The best part about this project is that it can be completed in a flash, using minimal items. To begin, you simply gather your fabric and lace, which you will want to order online from us, of course!
Once you have decided on colors and shapes, just draw lightly over them into desired shape (you do not necessarily need a stencil or pattern for this part) and cut them out. Pro-tip: Use a different shape for each layer for interest. Example: Bottom layer doily is round, next layer of color fabric is square, and so on! You can alternate layers until your creative heart is content.
Add a pin to the back for a brooch, or use it for any purpose under the sun–like adding it to a plain bag!
Remember, this is your project so you are free to scallop the edges of any layer, cut and shape like crazy! It is all about fun and the unique outcome will turn heads. Next, secure the layers over one another and secure with glue. Make sure you allow the glue to dry completely before moving on to the next step! Patience is a challenge, but do try.
