Soft felt owl pencil holder to keep a watchful eye on your workspace
You will need:
- Felt fabrics. Decide what colors you want the eyes, body, wings and head to be, then just place your order with J&O Fabrics!
- Contrasting embroidery thread will make your owl stand out, but if you prefer a more matchy style, coordinate.
- Tracing paper
- Scissors and pinking shears
- Pencil
- Mesh style pencil holder, similar to the one pictured. You can find these at Target, Walmart and almost anywhere.
What to do:
- Draw a pattern and trace onto paper (the shapes are simple).
- Use the tracing paper to trace the pieces, and then carefully cut them out.
- Cut out the felt pieces, using the pinking shears for the circles and inner wing pieces. (see photo).
- Use plenty of embroidery floss and blanket stitch the outline of the body and head sections.
- Next, blanket stitch the outer ends together, joining the body and wings and head segments.
- Use running stitches to secure the eyes to the head.
- Now add buttons or googly eyes to the eyes as desired!
- Finally, secure the owl to the pencil holder by its outer wings.
