Schoeller Technologies, an innovative textile company based out of Austria, has developed a fabric called Energear that can actually increase the energy of the individual that wears it. “Humans constantly radiate or emit energy,” says ST. “Energear ensures that the heat energy radiated by the body in the form of Far Infrared Rays is reflected back by the fabric. This reflection can increase circulation and oxygen levels in the blood.”

ST performed several tests to see if their patten actually worked. The first was a blind test on a female athlete who claimed that while wearing a shirt with Energear incorporated during a routine four hour endurance test, she could complete the more difficult aspects with greater ease. To eliminate any human bias, the fabric was also tested using bean plants. The result was that the seeds planted in containers lined with Energear grew significantly more than the seeds that were planted in a normal fabric ‘pot.’

Schoeller Technologies has not announced yet what its plans are for this fascinating new technology. One can only hope that they will make it available to the public. I know we at J&O Fabric would love to add it to our novelty fabric collection!
