Looking for something fun to do with fabric that will completely captivate your family? Check out this (magical) fabric dye, you just paint it onto your fabric and expose it to the sun to obtain desired depth and color! Completely awesome. So what exactly is this fabled dye? Inkodye is light-sensitive dye for textiles or any natural fibers, including wood and raw leather. A company has even formed using Inkodye, see video at bottom of post!
Fabric dye changes the color of the craft and the mood of everyone involved!
You can control the lightness or darkness of the color depending on how long you expose it to the sun. If you want to turn this project up a notch, lay some items onto the fabric during exposure, like the paper clip fabric below! If you cannot find an object in the house, cut out paper shapes, use lace, string, kids hands and other items!
The kiddos will love choosing objects for the fabric, and you will love the results!
This magic mixture can be applied to most fabrics (solid fabric is obviously best). This is a great way to create a variety of color and shape in any room, print leaves on the outer edging of throw pillows, add interest to drapes and even personalize clothing items.
Pro-tip: Use a stencil set and paper to draft more intricate patterns for your fabric dye projects! The most challenging part will be cutting them out. Share you awesome ideas on J&O Fabrics Facebook!
Paper clips are suddenly great!
