Why not craft fabric storage boxes using shoe boxes rather than just tossing them out? This is a great way to decorate empty shelving and use up fabric scraps. You can use one fabric on the exterior with a coordinating fabric for the inside of the box. This could also be covered with fabric scraps to form a collage style box. Cover a box with our official NFL fabric for your sports fan!
Cover shoe boxes with fabric to create easy, attractive and affordable home storage!
You will need:
- Decorative fabrics
- Grommets
- Scissors or pinking shears
- Fabric adhesive
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Box cutter/utility knife
What to do:
- Measure or trace the box. Cut out a paper pattern or just lightly pencil onto the back of the fabric.
- Cut out fabrics needed for the inside and out
- Use your preferred fabric adhesive to glue it to the box, starting with the inside. This way you can neatly wrap the edging.
- You may add a huge grommet to each side instead of handles. You can cut these out with your utility knife, or plan for them ahead of time and cut box and fabrics.
- You want to make sure the grommet is securely in place and is strong enough that the box will not tear. Fortify it with your spray adhesive.
- How simple was that? Remember this craft the next time you return home from a shopping spree!
You can use a different fabric for the outside, lid and interior of any shoe box to make an eye-catching piece of shelf storage
Now that old bookshelf can be a bit less bland! Each new pair of shoes you make will inspire a new storage tote, which is perfectly ok because they look great in any room!
