Halloween pumpkins come in every shape, size and design…so why not fabric? This fabric Halloween jack-O-lantern craft is easy and will not decompose on your doorstep! Begin by selecting your Halloween fabric here!
There are 2 ways to create your pumpkin:
1. Use a festive fabric and use it to cover a real pumpkin or similarly shaped object
2. Use an old sweater to craft a sweater for your pumpkin
Directions for a fabric pumpkin cover:
You will need:
• 1 yard of fabric
• Scissors
• Buttons, pipe cleaner and other items to create a face for your little fellow
• Hot glue or fabric adhesive, depending on how heavy your embellishments.
What to do:
• Fold your pumpkin into the fabric to determine how to cut the fabric. Make sure there is plenty of room to wrap it and leave a tip of fabric sticking up, like a pumpkin stem
• Cut the fabric and wrap it over, securing the excess fabric into the shape of a stem. You can add a ribbon, Mohawk, or any other item to the top.
• Now that the fabric pumpkin is ready, gather up the kiddos and help them give it a face! This project is super easy, fun and cute!
Directions for a sweater pumpkin:
You will need:
• An old sweater
• A pumpkin
• Scissors
• Elastic
What to do:
• Lay sweater flat and cut across from arm to arm (as pictured below)
• Gather the torso section and turn inside out, securing the cut edge with an elastic
• Now turn it right side out and place pumpkin (or just stuff with cotton) inside and secure with another elastic
• Add some ribbon and use fabric remnants to decorate and you are finished!
Add some strings for the above effect!
