You will need: (to make 2)
- Thin cotton or polyester fabric: 31” x 25”
- Green cotton fabric: 6 ½” x 5 ½” (2 pieces)
- 3 ½ yards of bias tape
- 1 piece of 15” cord
- Ribbon or cotton tape, about 2”
- Paper for the pattern: 22” x 24”
- 13mm of end bead (2 pieces)
- Sewing machine
- Fabric pencil
- Ruler
- Adhesive tape
What to do:
- Transfer the pattern onto the fabric and cut them out.
- Double fold the side seam allowance of the hull and sew
- Fold back and sew a horizontal line. This will form a pocket for the drawstring.
- Position the hull over the strawberry fabric triangle with right side up. Sew with a 3/8” allowance.
- Repeat to make another strawberry piece
- Place the strawberry in the bottom corner and baste it into place.
- Fold the ribbon in half and baste it near the hull.
- Repeat placement with the other corner, with no ribbon tag.
- Next, fold the bag with the right sides kissing, aligning the side and bottom seams. Pin into place.
- Sew side and bottom seams with a 3/8” allowance.
- Sew the handles together. Double fold the seam allowances to tuck in the raw edges.
- Bind the raw edges (side and bottom and around handles) with bias tape.
- Wrap the cord end with adhesive tape and insert cord into drawstring pocket area. Back pocket also.
- Place the end beads at both ends and secure with a knot.
