You will need:

  • A few fabric prints. Coordinate or contrast! Mixing and matching fabrics is half of the fun.
  • Felt fabric
  • Pencil, paper, ruler
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread
  • Pins
  • Pinking shears and sewing scissors

What to do:

  • Begin by making your pattern. Just draw a rectangle 4” long by 2” wide and cut it out! Draw another one, 4 x 2.75 and cut it out. The slightly larger one is for the rear panel.
  • Next, pin the larger pattern onto the felt fabric and cut out.
  • Pin the smaller pattern onto the decorative fabric and cut out. (if you prefer to skip the pins, just trace and cut)
  • Trim across the top edge of the front fabric piece with pinking shears.
  • Pin the front panel of pocket onto the felt backing.
  • Sew them together, backstitching at the start and end.
  • Finally, trim around the exterior with pinking shears. Be extra careful not to slice through the stitching!
