– Pablo Neruda Ode to Wine
These words reflect the great appreciation that has been accorded to wine for thousands of years. Poets as dissimilar as John Milton, W. B. Yeats, Jorge Luis Borges and Lord Byron have sung the praises of wine in languages as diverse as the varieties of said spirit.
The above quoted poem of the Chilean Neruda is particularly interesting since, in one line, it compares the virtues of wine to those of velvet.
