This oh-so-simple and sweet owl pillow makes a great gift idea for a baby shower or child’s birthday. While the pillows in the photos below are sewn, there is also the option to just use fabric adhesive and skip the sewing altogether! Choose sets of 2 coordinating fabrics from our online store and get started! (Or just pop on in if you live in the area!)
Adorable animal crafts are always a fun family project
You will need:
• 2 coordinating fabrics. One will be the body and the other will be the wings.
• A few shades of felt fabric for the facial features (Googly eyes can be added, if desired!)
• Batting
• Owl body template. Pro-tip: print the template out and trace it side by side on wax paper to ensure accuracy
If you want the kiddos to get into crafting while young, animals tend to capture their interest! When they are making something that they really want, it does not feel like a lesson to them.
What to do:
• Cut out the birdie’s body from one fabric and the wings from the other
• Sew or glue the wings to the body
• Decide what shapes and sizes to make your eyes and beak. Have fun with this part and use multiple colors and layers for the eyes, eyelids and nose!
• Sew front and back of pillow together, facing each other, with ¼” seam. Leave the bottom open for stuffing part
• Turn owl right side out, pulling ears out completely. Stuff gently with batting and secure the bottom opening. Ta-da! Your owl pillow is ready to take flight!
There is also the option of leaving the wings off in favor of a cute tummy
