Being a mobile retailer, I am often traveling to and fro with my freshly created and pressed garments in tow to do a fashion show or event hours away. And while many times my destination will have an iron provided for needed touch ups, certainly that has not always been the case (especially w/provision of one that suits my taste). It is as a result of these past experiences that the decision to tote my own trusty iron along was finally made. Enter the DIY iron caddy.
After searching online for suitable traveling cases and finding not much else than suggestions to store my iron in my regular suitcase or carry on, I decided to try my hand at a more customized option. Designed with the needs of an ‘on-the-go’ artisan such as myself in mind, the iron caddy offers the option of a simplistic or funky outer shell of your choice, with a double layer of heat resistant lining so I can pack-up-and-go instead of waiting for my iron to cool all the way down! The extra bonus…. once the caddy is opened, it can double as a pressing cloth too! Talk about convenience!! With only a yard of each textile good required per caddy (4-5yds total) you save money and end up with a customized DIY carry bag reflective of you.

Oh my! This is so wonderful. Thanks for sharing. We are downsizing to “tiny house” living and this is perfect for me to make and use. Woohoo!
