Every year, we at J&O get over excited for Halloween. It is the one time of year when we can galavant around in crazy get-ups that we create from off the wall fabric. However, every year when we are looking for inspiration, it is always hard to find somewhere to begin. That is why we have compiled this group of photos to glean inspiration from. After all, when it comes to Halloween costumes, the bigger and bolder, the better.
Princess and Prince Charming
Far too often these days, we see costumes being sold online that are, well, cheap. There is simply no nice way to say it. The fabric is already coming apart at the seams when you try them on, they are itchy, and by the end of the night, they have completely fallen to pieces. What stood out to us about these two costumes, is that they are not only beautiful, but they are also made from high quality dress fabric. No tacky frills, no itchy tool, just gorgeous stitching and lovely materials.
Creative Cat
For the past eight years, Heidi Klum has thrown a blow-out Halloween bash to which she invites all of the Hollywood A-listers. While most starlets show up in costumes that barely qualify as clothing, Heidi always outdoes herself and manages to be fierce and creative with her wardrobe choices. This picture is from last year’s party where she showed her claws in a beautiful velour jumpsuit complete with ears, tail, and orange eyes. This costume shows true dedication to Halloween and, funnily enough, gives a whole new definition to ‘cat-walk.’
Bad-Ass Pirate
I don’t know who the typical online costume vendor is looking at when they make their cookie-cutter pirate costumes, but it certainly is not Jack Sparrow. Shiny polyester on a pirate? I don’t think so. The closest a pirate would ever get to that is gold trim on his or her jacket. Do those salty sea dogs proud with your pirate costume! Heck, if you really want to extend the authenticity of your look, you might even want to go without a shower for a few days before the 31st.
The whole point of dressing up for Halloween is to step out of your own personality and step into someone else’s shoes (or paws/ boots depending on your preference). So this year, make sure that if you are going to do it, do it right! Get a little crazy with your costume! Who knows, maybe you might inspire someone else to step up and do the same.
