Over the last several months, a new and crafty craze has been sweeping the globe: yarn bombing. People who are adept at knitting create form fitting “sweaters” for everything from trees to national landmarks. These marauders are redefining street art with their beautiful, intricate, and often humorous creations. Here are some of J&O Fabric Stores favorite examples.

While the examples above were done in the United States, this art form extends well past our boarders. These pillars in London, England fell pray to a creative eye.
This form of tagging has become so popular that two writers and knitting enthusiasts in Vancouver got together to write a book about yarn bombing. The book includes great photos, sorties, and instructions.
The majority of bloggers and street artists (as well as the authors of the book above) are touting yarn bombing as the new way to “tag” or graffiti. Underground networks are forming around this type of art, and bombing territories are even being drawn. Now is the time to stop knitting sweaters and join the movement! Buy yourself some darners and start bombing.
