A few weeks ago, fashionistas young and seasoned, beautiful models, and the media alike converged on the city of Baltimore Maryland for the 6th Annual Baltimore Fashion Week (Aug 8-11, 2013) to get a sneak peak into what some of our notable and up-and-coming designers are dishing out for the season ahead; and what a showcase of color and creativity it was!
Considered the main fashion event of Baltimore, the annual gathering provides an elevated platform for artists and designers to showcase their talents on a professional runway for the world to see and be inspired by. Baltimore Fashion Week prides itself in fact, on providing its participants a true fashion week experience in front of an audience of buyers, boutique owners, and fashion lovers the world over. Featuring both local and international designers, Baltimore Fashion Week offered an array of cultural influences, inspirational designs, and trends sure to be followed in the weeks to come. From the colorful African canvas of Uganda designer Eguana Kampala and sexy floral dresses of Mexican designer Fernanda Mello, to the flirty silhouettes expressed through signature pieces from Maryland native Debrichhio and the funky stylings of Arkansas flower Chevon Sewell, the runways set the stage for aspiring designers and fashion savvy consumers. I am sure there were at least a few fabricaholics in the crowd who couldn’t wait to find reason to raid our fabric store for dress goods once again.
Whether inspired by the exotic cuts and African prints, or taken away by the fit and feel of microfiber and knit blends manipulated in amazing ways, the designers brought their creativity to Baltimore for a week of excitement sure to be talked about until the next one comes around!
