The Hello Kitty Craze!

All girls are familiar with the Hello Kitty craze created by Japanese artist Yuko Shimizu. Growing up my parents had to drag me away from shelves filled with the simplistic cat on compacts, nail polish, purses, hair barrettes and dresses. I could have cared less about the product, I wanted that kitty icon! Everyone in school was sporting a Hello Kitty something and I wanted to be the same. Now that the tables have turned I find myself in my parents position, dragging my own daughter from the Hello Kitty stores and at times surprising her by spending some hard-earned cash on a little kitty just to see her giggle with glee.

3 Ways to Celebrate Earth Day

Earth Day

Earth Day was born on April 22, 1970 as was the foundations of the environmental movement. Now, forty-two years later, we are still finding new ways to live a greener lifestyle and create a smaller carbon footprint for the good of our planet and future generations. Crafters have even picked up the baton and found new ways to repurpose clothing and recycle household waste into some pretty amazing craft projects.

Springtime in Paris

Eiffel Tower

The beautiful city of Paris has been home to art and fashion lovers for centuries. Famous artists who hid away in their attic studios throughout the city created many masterpieces we now see in large art galleries around the world. Throughout the centuries this city has been a beacon and compass for our culture. Whether you have had the opportunity to stroll the city streets and climb the Eiffel Tower or not  you are sure to love these romantic, Parisian-inspired prints which are perfect for your spring projects.

Fun Time in Paris Novelty Print

Fabric for Your Little Ballerina

There is something about the ballet that appeals to little (and big) girls. The soft flowing fabrics and the iconic net tutus sets young minds to dreaming of fairy-tales, castles and prince charming. Perhaps you were taxied every week by your caring mother to learn how to pirouette perfectly or maybe you settled for whirling around in front of your dressing mirror as a child. Either way, if we’re honest, I’m sure we can recall a ballerina phase in our childhood.

Picnic Prints!

Now that the weather is warm it is time to fire up the grill and pack up the picnic basket. Eating outdoors at a park or by a lake this time of year is so refreshing. You just can’t beat the beautiful weather, not to mention having a place for the kids to run off all their energy. It’s not hard to see why picnics are such an iconic summer activity.

After years of use, spills and stains it’s probably about time to update your linens and blankets. We carry a great selection of prints that are perfect for your next picnic, including some classy outdoor fabric!

The Gang is All Here! Charlie Brown and Friends

Charlie Brown image by akuchlingimage by akuchling

As a child I loved Charlie Brown. I remember it wasn’t officially fall or the holidays until I had watched a Peanuts special on television. I recall visiting my cousin who had his whole room decked out in Charlie Brown decor right down to the pillowcase. I suppose the reason why Charlie Brown and the whole Peanuts crew is so lovable is the fact that as kids and adults we can all relate to the characters which were the brainchild of Charles Schulz. There is a little Charlie Brown and I suppose a bit of Lucy in all of us and that’s what we see in those simplistic characters… ourselves!

One of my favorite areas of the home to start with when a new season arrives is the master bedroom. After all, we spend so much time in this room, doesn’t it deserve a bit of seasonal sprucing up? It should be the most relaxing place in the house but it should also reflect your personality. There are a lot of ways to redecorate without breaking the bank. In this post we’ll cover three super easy projects to remake one of the favorite rooms of the house.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Take me out to the ballgame! Baseball has always been an All-American sport. We just can’t get enough home runs for the home team and strikes against the visitors.

I must admit I’m a bit clueless when it comes to some sports, but I love baseball. I guess it’s because my Dad and I enjoyed playing catch until the lightning bugs came out. When our favorite team was playing we’d pop our own popcorn or pick up a few boxes of Cracker Jacks to munch and crunch our way through the game.

Perhaps it’s a love of color and beauty that makes creatives yearn to not only beautify their living quarters but everything around them. Gardening brings the beauty of the outdoors into our kitchens and in-turn our dinner table. So, if you’re a fan of veggies and fabric have I got news for you! We offer vegetable novelty prints for the gardener!
