Ask Netfah: How Many Yards Do I Need for A No-Sew Fleece Throw?

Dear Netfah,

I was interested in making one of those no-sew fleece throws for my Baltimore Ravens loving boyfriend who will be stationed overseas for yet another Superbowl Sunday, and was not so sure how many yards of material I needed. He is about 6 ft 2 and about 260 lbs. Any suggestions?

Dear Missing my football,

If you are purchasing a fleece that is already 60″ wide or more, then you are off to a good start. Since 60″ equates to 5ft, your honey will have plenty of his favorite football team fabric to wrap around him on those somewhat cold and lonely nights oceans away. To cover enough yardage for the length of an average male, 2-2 1/2 yards (72-90″) is suffice. For slightly shorter individuals, 2 yards is the perfect length to cover your 2″ tie cuts around the fabric, plus your shoulders and toes too. For children, 1 yard of a 60″ fleece fabric is sure to have them snuggled up warm and comfy.
